Current Sales on Books & Audiobooks

Everyone loves a sale! I’ll try to keep anything that can make reading more affordable at this page, whether it’s a sale on my books or an offer from a bookseller.

February 2020 Audible Sale

Here’s an update from Amazon that will make audiobook lovers smile: new Audible memberships are on sale this month! When you join now through Feb. 18, 2020, the first four months are $7.95 each. The regular rate is $14.95 per month. (Get details at Amazon, here.)

Four of my books – Ambition, Pride, Courage, and Luck – are on Audible. It’s an audiobook program along similar lines to Kindle Unlimited: you get to download one Audible audiobook, and two Audible Originals, every month.

If you have Amazon Prime, the Audible Originals program is similar to their First Reads program. Every month I get an email with six books highlighted; I get to choose one to download for free.

The Audible Originals offer is two downloads per month, out of six choices. What’s really interesting about this program is the unique offerings from well-known experts and writers. For example, February’s choices includes an exclusive audiobook from acclaimed writer Michael Pollan on my favorite drug of choice, caffeine!

From the site:

Michael Pollan, known for his best-selling nonfiction audio, including The Omnivores Dilemma and How to Change Your Mind, conceived and wrote Caffeine: How Caffeine Created the Modern World as an Audible Original. In this controversial and exciting listen, Pollan explores caffeine’s power as the most-used drug in the world – and the only one we give to children (in soda pop) as a treat.

I’m literally sitting here at my laptop jonesing for a cup of coffee and this is the book I’m considering downloading. Too real, people.

Anyway, audiobooks make an incredible way to re-introduce books into your life. I can’t tell you how many people say to me, I need to read more. I don’t read enough. It’s awful. I’m ashamed.

Don’t be ashamed! You are busy! It’s modern life that’s awful and should be ashamed.

In the meantime, commutes and boring data entry and lunchtime walks and even stall-mucking all offer the opportunity to pop in the earbuds and hit play on a book.

By the way, here’s one of my favorite audiobooks ever: Radio Girls by Sarah-Jane Stratford. It’s about the early days of the BBC! Career girl in bobbed hair fights fascism with radio scripts! I listened to it a couple of years ago during long work/barn commutes and I still think about it all the time. And yes – it’s on Audible!

I’m highlighting this Presidents’ Day Sale on Audible because I am hoping you’ll enjoy my books on Audible… but also because I know it will give some of you the gift of enough time to read!
